The NUCCA procedure is unique because it frees the nervous system of interference by using a precise, non-invasive, gentle touch technique.
NUCCA can help you feel better regardless of your circumstances because your central nervous system affects all human function, therefore when it is inhibited, varying conditions or problems may result, but when it’s clear, optimal health and well-being can be realized.
The NUCCA procedure brings several generations of clinical research to correcting the serious problem of the Atlas Subluxation Complex. By using precise and objective x-ray views of the head and neck, mathematical measurement and analysis are made of the misalignment.
Once the misalignment is understood by the doctor, there is no need for further x-rays because correlating the relationship between posture and upper cervical misalignment allows posture to then be used thereafter to judge alignment. There is also often less need for repeated corrections because returning the bones of the neck to a normal position also normalizes function in the body.
What to Expect
To begin, we offer a consultation so that you can experience the office and make sure the people and process are a comfortable match to your needs. This gives us a chance to hear a bit about your situation, make some measurements, and discuss the potential of NUCCA treatment. The supine leg check, which shows leg length inequality, is the basic standard to determine if you have an upper cervical misalignment along with postural evaluations.
Any other health problems, injuries, motor vehicle accidents, surgeries, along with other treatment programs which include diagnostic tests and x-rays, are also evaluated and assessed. After this initial process, the doctor will begin the steps necessary in determining if your spinal column is significantly misaligned or out of balance.
Precision Analysis
Precise measurements of your spinal balance are taken. These measurements are used to determine if you have a significant imbalance that would require a correction. They are also used to determine the progress of your spinal stability on follow up visits and help in determining when another spinal correction is needed.
You will be asked lie on the adjusting table and the doctor will check for a leg length imbalance, which is also known as the “short leg phenomenon”. This is where the leg appears shorter because the hips are imbalanced.
If it is determined that you have a significant body imbalance and would benefit from NUCCA spinal health care, along with your consent, the specific series of x-rays is performed and mathematically analyzed before your first spinal correction. The NUCCA x-ray series involves safety procedures that use low technique settings along with specially designed filters to further reduce x-ray exposure to the patient.
Precision Correction
When it’s time for your spinal correction, the doctor will have you lie on the adjusting table on your side and position your head in a very specific fashion. This is based on the information obtained from the x-rays. The doctor will then be positioned in a specific stance, which is again determined from the x-ray analysis, and place their hand near your ear. This is where the side of the atlas or 1st neck vertebra is located.
The doctor will apply a very light and subtle correctionsthat moves the spinal bones of the neck very carefully. There is no discernable pushing or twisting in the correction, nothing rapid or abrupt. The patient will often feel light pressure at the contact. The correction usually takes a few minutes to perform. It takes very little shifting of the bones to relieve nerve pressure.
Removing the Interference
Because it’s important to receive the best possible correction on your first visit, the doctor will take two post x-rays. These films will show the doctor how the spine responded to the initial spinal corrections. This is typically done only after your first correction. If the x-ray measurements indicate that the correction was not optimal, the doctor will usually continue to re-adjust you until a favorable balance is achieved. We know that the better the spinal correction, the better the chance of recovery.
Because each spinal correction and healing response is unique to the individual, you will be monitored closely with follow-up visits. These visits help ensure the spinal correction is maintained for as long as possible as the healing process continues.
Recovery continues as long as the adjustment or correction holds and optimal spinal balance is maintained. Further adjustments are only given when the body demonstrates a sufficient misalignment is present. It’s helpful to remember: Healing is a process, not an event.
NUCCA has helped many thousands of people of all ages regain and maintain their health throughout their lifetime. NUCCA offers a conservative approach to healing that is specific to that person and works to enhance the body’s own ability to be well.
